Future Leaders

The Future Leaders Programme is a volunteer training programme designed to educate junior gymnastics coaches within the club. Participants assist with instructing kids within our recreational gymnastics programmes. Applicants must be turning 14 years old before the end of the year to be a programme member, have some previous gymnastics experience and be interested in working with children.

Many of our Future Leaders later go on to achieve their Gymnastics Ireland coaching qualifications and become coaches in the club.

Whats involved

As part of the Future Leaders programme, volunteers must adhere to the following criteria:

  1. Commit to a minimum of two consecutive hours per week, with regular attendance required.

  2. Keep a log of all their coaching hours through their trainee coach workbook.

Future leaders must register for membership with Gymnastics Ireland, in order to be enrolled in the Future Leaders programme.

All Future Leaders aged 16 years and over are required to attend a Sport Ireland safeguarding course and will be Garda Vetted.

Leaders work under the direction of a qualified coach and a supervising coach, and are expected to take an active role in the club.

Leaders need to be reliable, work well in a team, and have a fun and friendly attitude. They should commit to both their own coaching development and to the development of their gymnasts.
