Recreation classes

Our recreational artistic gymnastics allow gymnasts to develop their gymnastics skills in a fun, encouraging, non-competitive but challenging environment. They help children develop good co-ordination, self-confidence and discipline as well as strength, balance, flexibility and agility.

All gymnasts learn skills on Floor, Sprung Floor, Beam, Bars, Vault, Air Track and Trampette.

TEEN GYM

Our Teen gym sessions allow gymnasts to develop their gymnastics skills in a fun, encouraging, non-competitive but challenging environment. The drop out rate for teenage girls out of sport and physical activity in Ireland is the highest out of any population group, with only 7% of girls aged 14-15 meeting the recommended physical activity levels. Our teen classes are desgined to be a great social outlet for teenagers, while continuing to keep them engaged in physical activity in a positive environment.

All gymnasts learn skills on Floor, Sprung Floor, Beam, Bars, Vault, Air Track and Trampette. These sessions are suitable for both beginners and experienced gymnasts.

NINja

Ninja Gym involves lots of jumping, swinging, hanging from different apparatus, learning how to manoeuvre your body over and under obstacles, and learning gymnastics tricks, all while trying to look as cool as possible (rather than with pointed toes and straight legs like artistic gymnastics requires). Most importantly, athletes will learn this in a safe environment.

Athletes will always learn how to fall safely, which is important in and out of the gym. Ninja gym is also great for core strengthening, physical confidence, and is lots of fun!

All ninjas master their skills through training on floor and various gymnastics equipment.

DEVELOPMENT GROUP

Our classes are predominantly recreational classes, and our main priority is to have children keeping fit and having fun no matter what their skill level. There are a limited number of classes where children focus more on the development of strength, conditioning and skills.

Senior coaches within our recreational training sessions identify children who show a combination of strength, power, speed, agility, coordination, focus and willingness to learn. We do not select children based upon the skills they currently have. Children are assessed throughout the year for suitability for these groups and parents of identified children will be contacted.

Gymnasts in development groups typically participate in one gymnastics event per year.

Squad gymnasts are selected from either development groups or if the gymnast demonstrates the necessary prerequisites during term testing.
